Help us run a platform we built ourselves.
basis.no designs, builds and operates its own hosting platform in data centres in Norway and Germany. On it we run SAP, Kubernetes and a growing range of business applications for Nordic companies. We are looking for people who want to understand every layer of that platform, and who like solving problems close to the hardware and close to the customer.
What the work is like
Most hosting companies resell someone else's cloud. We run our own: servers, network, storage, virtualisation, Kubernetes and the applications on top. That shapes the job.
- You see the whole stack. When something breaks, the answer is in our own systems, not in a support ticket with a hyperscaler. You get to follow a problem all the way down.
- Automation first. We automate routine operations wherever we can, so people spend their time on work that needs judgement.
- Open source and standard hardware. The platform is built on Linux and open-source components such as Ceph, Proxmox, Harvester, Rancher and Longhorn, running on standard servers.
- Real customers, directly. You work with the people who use the systems you run: IT departments and developers at Nordic companies, often over many years.

SAP Basis Consultant
Keep our customers' SAP systems installed, current and running well, from the database and operating system up to the SAP technical layer.
What you will do
- SAP installations, upgrades and system configuration
- Performance tuning, troubleshooting and problem solving
- Day-to-day monitoring of customer SAP landscapes
- Work directly with customers' IT teams on changes and incidents
What you bring
- Proven experience with SAP Basis
- Native fluency in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or Finnish
- Good working knowledge of Linux
- Strong customer focus and clear communication
Nice to have
Infrastructure Specialist
Operate and develop the infrastructure the whole platform stands on: servers, storage, virtualisation, network and the services that tie them together.
What you will do
- Run and improve Linux servers, storage and virtualisation in our data centres
- Maintain routing, firewalls and connectivity between sites
- Automate deployment and configuration
- Work on security, access control and logging across the platform
What you bring
- Advanced knowledge of Linux systems
- Solid understanding of IT networking and security
- Hands-on experience with several of the technologies below
Technologies we use
Kubernetes / Platform Engineer
Build and operate the Kubernetes platform behind our Managed Kubernetes, Kubernetes PaaS and Odoo hosting services.
What you will do
- Install, upgrade and maintain Harvester, Rancher, Longhorn and Kubernetes clusters
- Plan and carry out customer migrations onto the platform
- Manage cluster networking, load balancing, certificates and volume backup
- Automate platform operations and take part in on-call for the platform
What you bring
- Experience running Kubernetes in production
- Strong Linux skills and a good grasp of networking
- Familiarity with Helm and GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux

Common questions
Do I have to live in Norway?
No. All roles can be done remotely from anywhere in the Nordics. Our head office is in Oslo.
Do I need to speak a Nordic language?
For the SAP Basis Consultant role, yes: native fluency in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or Finnish is required, because you will work directly with Nordic customers.
What kind of customers will I work with?
Nordic companies that run business-critical systems such as SAP, Kubernetes workloads, integrations and Odoo, and want them operated close to home rather than by a large international cloud provider.
Can I choose my own laptop and OS?
Yes. You choose between PC, Mac and Linux.
