Support for RISE with SAP

SAP runs the platform. You still run the system.

RISE with SAP moves infrastructure and technical operations to SAP, but a large share of classic Basis work stays with you: transports, interfaces, background jobs, SAP Notes, certificates, print and file exchange. RISE support is how basis.no takes over that customer-side responsibility and works with SAP on your behalf.

  • 99.9% SAP application uptime SLA
  • 1,000+ SAP databases
  • Since 1999

Is this for you?

  1. 01

You are on RISE with SAP, or moving there, and still have customer-side technical work.

  2. 02

You need services a standard RISE tenant does not include, run next to it.

  3. 03

You want clear responsibilities between your team, SAP, your partner and us.

01

Where SAP's responsibility stops

A common assumption is that RISE removes the need for Basis. In practice, SAP Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) operates the technical stack, while the application layer and everything connected to it remains the customer's job.

Typically SAP ECS

  • Data centre / hyperscaler infrastructure
  • Operating system and database operation
  • Backup and restore of the tenant
  • Technical upgrades within the contract
  • Platform availability per SLA

Typically the customer

  • Technical incidents on the application layer
  • Transport management and system refresh coordination
  • RFC destinations, SAP Cloud Connector and interface setup
  • Background job setup and monitoring
  • SAP Notes, support package planning and add-ons
  • Certificates, print and file exchange configuration
  • Tickets, follow-up and escalation towards SAP

The exact split is defined in the Roles & Responsibilities (RACI) document of your RISE contract. We start every engagement by reviewing it with you.

Full feature optimisation

Enhanced package

Enhanced adds a private cloud, delivered and operated by basis.no as part of the service. You get your own tenant in basis.no's data centres in Norway or Germany, connected to your RISE tenant. It runs the services a standard RISE tenant does not include, without changing anything SAP operates.

  • Your own tenant – a dedicated private cloud environment for your company
  • Data location in Norway or Germany – you choose where your private cloud and its data are hosted
  • Operated by basis.no – built and run by the same team that handles your Basis work
  • Part of the service – no separate infrastructure project or hosting contract to manage
  • Sits in front of RISE – users, partners and integrations reach RISE through it where needed

Common questions

Do we still need Basis competence after moving to RISE?

Yes. SAP operates the infrastructure and technical platform, but classic Basis tasks such as transport management, interface setup, job scheduling and SAP Notes remain customer responsibilities. Someone also has to raise, follow up and escalate tickets with SAP.

How does basis.no work with SAP ECS in practice?

You authorise basis.no as a technical contact in your SAP support setup. We then raise, follow up and escalate service requests and incidents with SAP ECS on your behalf, and your Technical Account Manager keeps track of open cases and reports status back to you.

What is the private cloud in the Enhanced package?

It is your own tenant in basis.no data centres in Norway or Germany, delivered and operated by basis.no as part of the RISE support service. It is connected to your RISE tenant and provides services such as print, file exchange and certificates, without modifying the tenant that SAP operates.

Can we start with Basic and add Enhanced later?

Yes. Basic covers management and coordination. The private cloud can be added when you need one or more of the Enhanced services.
