Once Odoo runs the business, hosting is an operations decision
Most companies start on Odoo's own hosting, Odoo.sh. It is a good platform for getting started: one standardised setup, built for developers, the same for every customer.
As Odoo takes over finance, sales, inventory and production, the requirements change. The questions now come from management, auditors and IT, not only from developers:
- Where exactly is our data stored, and is that written into the contract?
- How much data can we lose, and when did anyone last test a full restore?
- Can we reach Odoo over a private connection, with our own identity provider and access rules?
- Can Odoo exchange data with our other systems, and feed our reporting tools without slowing down production?
- Who do we call at 02:00 when an integration stops or the system slows down?
These are the questions basis.no has answered for business-critical systems since 1999. Our Odoo hosting is built to answer them.
One dashboard for your environments, deployments and performance
The Odoo platform dashboard gives your team, and your Odoo partner, one place to follow development, testing and production. The workflow is Git-based, so developers keep working the way they are used to.
How the platform is built
Odoo platform runs on the same managed Kubernetes platform basis.no uses for other customer workloads, in our own data centres.
The stack is built on open-source components and standard Odoo. No proprietary changes are made to Odoo itself.
Your data, access on your terms
Your Odoo data stays on basis.no's own platform, and you decide how it is reached.
- Own data centres – your data stays in basis.no's own data centres, operated by our own staff.
- Private access – VPN or a private connection, so Odoo does not need to be exposed to the internet.
- Identity – single sign-on with Microsoft Entra ID, two-factor authentication and Conditional Access policies.
- Perimeter protection – web application firewall, geo-fencing and IP restrictions in front of Odoo.
- Network flexibility – forward and reverse proxy, custom domains and network setup to fit your existing infrastructure.
- Certification – basis.no is ISO 27001 certified.
This supports companies working with NIS2, DORA, GDPR or internal security requirements.
Backup and disaster recovery you can document
A daily backup means up to 24 hours of orders, invoices and stock movements can be lost. We back up continuously, so the database can be restored to a chosen point in time.
- All environments are backed up – staging and development too, not only production.
- Restore on request – to a new environment, so you can check the data before switching over.
- Annual DR test – we restore your Odoo from backup once a year and give you a report. You can file it directly with your own ISO 27001, NIS2 or DORA documentation.
Performance sized to your actual load
On standard Odoo hosting, capacity is bought in fixed steps of workers, the Odoo processes that handle simultaneous requests. We size capacity from what your system actually does.
- PostgreSQL tuning – database settings, indexes and connection handling adjusted to your data volume and usage pattern.
- Workers sized to load – we measure peaks such as month-end close and web shop campaigns, and size Odoo for them.
- Horizontal scaling – the Odoo application can scale out, with PostgreSQL capacity and read replicas sized to the workload.
- High availability – Odoo and PostgreSQL run in a redundant setup, so the loss of a single server does not stop the system.
- Custom system libraries – install the Python packages and system libraries your modules need, such as specific PDF, label printing or data processing tools.
Integration and reporting without load on production
Odoo rarely runs alone. It exchanges data with banks, warehouses, e-commerce, payroll and BI tools. We give you the infrastructure for this next to Odoo.
You can also run other applications next to Odoo on the same platform, for example an integration service or an internal tool.
24/7 support, and a clear division of work
Our operations team monitors the platform around the clock and responds to incidents 24/7 under a service level agreement. You talk to people who know your setup.

basis.no compared with Odoo.sh
Odoo.sh is one standardised platform for all customers. basis.no sets up and operates Odoo for each customer's requirements. The table shows where that makes a difference.
| Area | basis.no Odoo Hosting | Odoo.sh |
|---|---|---|
| Odoo editions | Community and Enterprise | Enterprise only |
| Platform model | Set up for each customer: capacity, network and services | Standardised shared platform, dedicated servers as an option |
| Data location | basis.no's own data centres | Regional zones (Belgium for Europe). Hosting provider and data centre location within a zone are not contractually guaranteed |
| Production backup | Continuous, with point-in-time recovery | Daily. Kept 7 days, then weekly for 4 weeks and monthly for 3 months |
| Staging and development backup | Included | No backup guarantee |
| Air-gapped backup | Optional | Not available |

Price and moving from Odoo.sh
Platform and operationsOdoo platform, dashboard, continuous backup, monitoring and 24/7 support.
CapacityWorkers, CPU, memory and storage, sized from your actual load.
Additional servicesDedicated nodes, VPN, read replica for BI, ETL and the integration platform.
Odoo licences are not included. We host both editions. Odoo Community is open source and has no licence cost. If you use Odoo Enterprise, you buy user licences from Odoo or your Odoo partner, and moving your hosting does not change the licence.
How a move works
- Check your renewal dateReview the renewal and cancellation terms of your Odoo agreement. We plan the move around your contract to avoid overlapping hosting costs.
- Review your current setupModules, workers, storage, integrations and staging branches.
- Test migrationWe restore a copy of your database and code to a staging environment on our platform.
- Acceptance testYou and your Odoo partner test with real data before we agree on a date.
- Switch-overFinal data transfer and DNS change, usually outside working hours.
Common questions
Do you host Odoo Community or Odoo Enterprise?
Both. Odoo Community is the open-source edition, with no licence cost. Odoo Enterprise adds more apps and features, and requires a user licence from Odoo. The platform, backup, security and support are the same for both editions.
Do we still need an Odoo Enterprise licence?
Only if you use Odoo Enterprise. The licence is per user and bought from Odoo or your Odoo partner. basis.no provides hosting and operations. The two are separate agreements.
Can we keep our Odoo partner?
Yes. Your partner continues to configure Odoo and develop modules. They deploy through your Git repository and follow environments in the dashboard. basis.no is responsible for the platform underneath.
Will our developers have to change how they work?
Very little. Code lives in GitHub, each branch can become an environment, and changes move from development to staging to production. Staging can use a copy of production data, as developers are used to from Odoo.sh.
Why not just use Odoo.sh?
For many small companies Odoo.sh is a good fit. Our hosting is for companies that need private network access, continuous backup, documented DR tests, integration with other systems or support outside office hours.
What happens if we want to leave?
The database and the code are yours. We run standard Odoo and standard PostgreSQL, and we give you a full database dump and file store if you move to another provider.
Can we connect our BI or reporting tool directly to Odoo?
Yes, through a read replica. Any tool that can read from PostgreSQL can connect. The replica is a continuously updated, read-only copy of the database, so heavy reports do not affect users working in production.
What does 24/7 support cover?
Everything on the platform: availability, performance, database, backup, network and integrations we operate. Questions about how Odoo is configured or used go to your Odoo partner, and we work with them when an issue involves both.
Let's look at your Odoo.
Tell us how you run Odoo today: number of users, modules, integrations and where it is hosted. We come back with a proposed setup, a fixed monthly price and a plan for moving.
